Are there aspects of the college you miss?
Yes, my colleagues and students. I miss the interesting and inspiring interactions that happen on campus including discussions, lectures, etc. Sometimes being away from that can be a little isolating.
Are you still in touch with the campus community?
Yes, with my colleague in German in particular, who is also on sabbatical, and also with other colleagues. I still get many, many emails!
What are you looking forward to in the spring?
The Term Abroad Program in Freiburg and Berlin, Germany! This is my favorite teaching assignment. There is nothing that quite compares to taking students to Germany where they can see and experience for themselves how dynamic German Studies can be!
Are you looking forward to returning in the fall?
Yes and no! I love being at Union, but I still have so much work I would like to accomplish.
What is one thing you are going to do to mark your return to Schenectady?
Engage in a lot of dialogues to catch up with people I haven't seen. I look forward to seeing my colleagues, my friends, and my family, especially my twin nieces, who also live in Schenectady.
