When asked if Horn's room for creativity has been affected by the current economy, Horn admitted certain areas of Warner Brothers Entertainment have been severely affected. "The economy is tough. It's painful for us and especially those we have had to let go. Despite his personal love for art films, Horn was forced to shut down both of Warner Brothers' art film distributors, Warner Independent Pictures and Picturehouse as a result of the economy.
"I love art films myself, but when New Line Cinema merged into Warner Brothers we were up to our ears with movies…two movies released every week. We had to focus on bigger pictures that would make us money." However, despite the recent adjustments Horn has had to make as a result of the economy, with the recent success of films such as "The Dark Knight" and the upcoming release of "Harry Potter" in July along with many other potentially successful films, Union alum Alan Horn '64 and his creative mind seem to be guiding Warner Brothers Entertainment in the right direction.
