Bravo is the New MTV

In the past MTV has been the channel that I turn to when I am bored. With shows like Real World, The Duel, Laguna Beach, The Hills, True Life, and Made, there is always something great to watch. I can turn it on at any time of the day and watch some of the finest human specimens share their life stories, get in screaming matches, or battle it out in challenges. But recently there has been a new channel that's caught my attention: Bravo TV.
Bravo has some really great shows in their lineup. One of my personal favorites is the Real Housewives series. This is a show that follows the daily lives of rich women in their forties. The women are gossip queens who discuss charity events and plastic surgery rumors. The series started with the Housewives of Orange County, followed by Atlanta, New York, and now New Jersey. There have only been two episodes of the New Jersey season so it's not too late to start watching. The women on this season are nothing short of hilarious. Four of the women are related either through blood or marriage (making the drama very personal) and the fifth woman is a recent divorcée. The newly single woman is the gem of the show; on the first episode she reveals that she had phone sex with a man she met online (she recommends it). After watching one episode you'll be hooked for the rest of the summer. Tune in on Tuesdays at 10.
Another great show on Bravo is Matchmaker Millionaire. This show centers on a matchmaking business that only sets up very wealthy men and woman. The woman in charge is Patty, a single 40 year-old who knows exactly how men and women must interact with each other in order for love to blossom. It's great to watch old men wonder why things don't work out with women who are half their age and only looking for money. There are only repeats airing right now, but each episode can stand on its own. Jump right into the show; it's easy to figure out what's going on.
These are two of Bravo's top shows, but there are many other great shows on that station. Top Chef and Make Me a Supermodel are two entertaining reality competitions. Frequent marathons are also aired, making it easy to procrastinate studying for finals. While I usually turn to MTV in times of boredom, I now find myself checking out Bravo more and more, and since MTV is all about the reality shows instead of music, I think it's safe to say that Bravo is the new MTV. This summer when you're channel surfing, just turn to Bravo for some true entertainment.
