Issue date: 10/18/07 Section: News
The much-talked about Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, Timothy Dunn has finally been hired and is expected to be on campus within the next few weeks. The Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs is a new position designed with the purpose of focusing on Greek life, and is thus a major step for Greek life at Union. According to Kerrie Wolf, Assistant Director of Student Activities, Mr. Dunn will play a major role in making Union's Greek life reach its full potential.

Mr. Dunn was carefully selected through a search and interview committee made up of both faculty members and students. Todd Clark, Director of Residential Life chaired the search committee. He stated that, "In terms of why Mr. Dunn was selected, it really came down to the strength of the students' opinion. All of the students that met Mr. Dunn were very impressed, and the unity and power of their voice is what made Mr. Dunn stand out over other candidates. We're excited to have him join our team!"

The presidents of all of the fraternities and sororities were invited to interview Mr. Dunn. Libby Johnson, president of Panhel, Na'eem Crawford Muhammad, president of MGC, and Dave Conelias, president of IFC were on the search committee. Agreeing with Mr. Clark's comments, Senior Associate Dean of Students, Trish Williams said that, "At the end of the day, we went with the students' choice."

President of Panhel, Libby Johnson (2008) asserted that, "I expect Dunn to be the liaison between Greeks and the faculty, and between the Union community and the outside community. He will act as a PR for Greeks and will help shed light on areas that we can improve on. I expect Dunn to be a great asset and resource for the Greeks and others on campus." Panhel is currently planning to revise its constitution in addition to planning annual staple philanthropies. Also, Panhel and MGC will be adding more information to the IFC monthly newsletter in an effort to produce an all Greek newsletter.
