Once upon a time in the beautiful Spring Break land of Turks and Caicos, a group of American girls met a group of Canadian boys. For two, it was love at first sight, or lust at first sight (because who really falls in love in a week? This is not a Hilary Duff movie). She was young, naive, and had a great tan and he was tall dark and handsome and studying to be an investment banker. He paid for her dinner and they shared many late night rendezvous on the beach. It was all quite romantic and a great rebound for her, as she had just ended a two-and-a-half year relationship. It was a "no strings attached, I'll never see you again," kind of romance. They were in a land of no cell phone service, great food (conch fritters are amazing, everyone should try them once), clear water, and most importantly, rum punches (the native drink). Spring break romances are envied by most and in fact, I have known people that have broken up with their significant other just to have an amazing spring break hook up (crazy, I know). But, when you think about it, who doesn't want to live in the fairy tale of sex on the beach (total cliché and very sandy, I do not recommend it) and no worries romance? They shared great food, amazing dancing, late night chats in the grotto and down by the sand, and one thing that most relationships do not entail, a clean break. On the last day they kissed and haven't seen each other since the white sand and aqua water of Turks and Caicos. This spring break (less than a month and counting) I hope everyone gets their fair share of surf, sun, tropical drinks, and maybe even a little romance.
