The Dutchmen closed out the season on a rather sour note as they lost 2-0 Friday night against twentieth ranked Colgate and then came back to register their last regular season game against Cornell as a 2-1 loss as well at Messa Rink. The loss to Colgate put Union out of contention for a first round ECACHL tournament play bye.

Friday night in front of a packed home rink in anticipation for potential the last home stay of the season, The Dutchmen came out to battle as they fought Colgate evenly throughout the entire first period. Both team rendered opportunities, yet neither capitalized.

In the second, the Raiders offense used a two minute Dutchmen defense breakdown to notch two scores giving them the game. This was only the second loss that Union suffered at home this season, and it was the second time the Colgate Cro-Magnon of the north held Union to a scoreless match.

Saturday night brought Union's "Senior Night" as Kris Mayotte, Chris Konnick, Scott Wheeler, Scott Seney, Jason Visser, Bryan Campbell, A.J. Palkovich and Jonathan Poirier suited up for their potential last game as Dutchmen players. The elite eight took the ice, and it was only fitting that the lone Union goal be scored by one of them.

Palkovich scored the only Union goal at 11:11 in the second to tie up the match, however Union was unable to mount a steady offense or gain a lead through the match. The loss put them in sixth for the season, and gave them hosting privileges for this weekend's first round play.

Union will host Yale this weekend in a three games series from March 3rd to March 5th . Yale boasts Ivy League status, yet Union has been known to knock them down a peg or two, as with their 5-1 victory over Yale at home two weeks ago. This weekend, the Dutchmen will hope to advance to the second round of ECACHL play. It is hard to say which team has the upper hand in the match-up.

Union suffered a heart breaking loss to Yale away earlier this season. Union put up 4, yet Yale barely beat them out by scoring three in the third to gain a win over the Dutchmen. However, at home, Union seemed to have a clear advantage when facing Yale earlier this season. Union cruised to an easy 5-1 victory, seeming to have no trouble negotiating the Yale defense.
