Students establish Union-Schenectady Alliance to revitalize the College's hometown

Campus throws itself into Habitat for Humanity project

Last fall, Union College President Stephen Ainlay announced that the College would transfer ownership of a house on Barrett Street to the Schenectady County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. This past Tuesday, three Union students submitted presentations to the inaugural Independent Sector Undergraduate Research Exposition at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. Winter Ball will support Diana Legacy Fund

This past fall, Union was enlightened about the AIDS crisis in Africa and the dire need for hospice care in these remote regions when Naomi Tutu, daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, came to speak to the campus. In response to Tutu's inspirational speech and in an effort to increase Union's involvement in international matters, Union's faculty and students have pulled together and used the annual Winter Ball as a fundraiser for this charity.… Post the First Comment

Concordy remembers Audrey Brennan, '02

Audrey Brennan, a starter for three years on the Women's Varsity Volleyball team, "was a tremendous person with a passion for all she did," Sandra Collins, Head Volleyball Coach, recalls fondly. Nicole Williams rivets crowd with impassioned motivational speech

This past Tuesday, Nicole Williams, a career expert and best-selling author, presented to an auditorium of predominantly female Union College students about "Bringing a Career to Life." Kip Fulbeck exhibit showcases racial diversity

Kip Fulbeck will grace Union with his presence in the Nott memorial on Thursday, January 31 at 7 p.m. An established artist, one who deals specifically with racial diversity and identity, Fulbeck agreed to share his art and ideas with the Union campus. Rachel Seligman, the Director of Mandeville Gallery, explained that this exhibit was "an unexpected art opening.… Post the First Comment

Spotlight on Ski Club

As temperatures continue to drop, the Union Ski Club is once again planning ski trips for the campus. This term, the club is organizing trips midweek to Jiminy Peak and to mountains such as Okemo and Mt. Snow on the weekends. There are over 300 members of the Ski Club this year, but according to Hazen Woolson, the club's President, "… you don't have to be a member of the club to enjoy the benefits of cheap, good skiing.… Post the First Comment

Student Forum Continues Resolutions

With fall term a distant memory, students are readjusting to the work, weather, and daily life of the winter trimester. Back in November, Student Forum worked on a variety of school developments to create a new and improved Union of 2008. Among these changes are extended weekend hours at the Rathskellar; club aid, such as added activities funding; and club status for Bowling Club, Project Sunshine, and Russian and Eastern European Club.… Post the First Comment
